I can’t lie, my favorite biscuits come from Popeyes! I think it might be the best part of getting fried chicken there! So I was excited to try the sweet cream biscuit recipe- this week’s selection from Melissa of Love at First Bite (so go check her blog for the recipe!!). I have not made biscuits since New Year’s Day ’09 and that was a Martha Stewart recipe for buttermilk biscuits. This recipe was incredibly easy to follow (yay!) and even I could conquer this dough (dough being my archnemesis of course). I only had a 3 1/2″ diameter biscuit cutter so my biscuits were a little larger.
We had them for a Sunday morning breakfast with eggs and they were so tasty and so flaky. Other than eating them, my favorite part was splitting them open to watch the steam escape, I felt like I was starring in my own Pillsbury commercial. I could only wish that I had some sausage patties to make breakfast sandwiches- can’t imagine how ferocious they would have been! Definitely a keeper recipe 🙂
